Arrived in LA finally. Only just coped with my two monsterous 30kg bags through a maze of transfer bus systems and poorly sign posted roads. Ended up on a blue line city bus with my board bag lying down the isle. My stop was on Lincoln BVD outside a SAV-ON-DRUGs store. After a few minutes rest, in the distance i saw a familiar face. This trip was totally out of the blue, whilst on my Working Holiday Visa in New Zealand, I needed to get away from windy Wellington so I chose this strange combination. I was spoilt with beautiful deserted Motu in the South Pacific and amazed at the Japanese culture, its a Country like no other I've ever witnessed, a place I fell in love with and hope to return very soon.

I live in California but seem to stay constantly busy traveling through out the beautiful state. I feel fortunate to live here as there are so many wonderful things to see and do. It's not rich with history but luckily I am part of an era that is helping to create it.

Suffering from a bit of jet lag (walking straight is proving a problem - could have been the wine last night?) We were off to see the sights of Santa Monica and Rodeo Drive.  Tour OK but shopping centre just another shopping centre!!  Big mall but no special bargains.  We were picked up from hotel, taken to the depot, got off, got ticket, got on another bus, got off again (dropped at Santa Monica shopping centre). Bought an old ´woody` Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser in New York, (stationwagon, so we could sleep in the back), travelled >20.000 km and sold the car in LA again.

Dag 30 dinsdag 19-8Lekker vroeg uit de veren om vandaag te arriveren in L.A. Palm Springs Kwamen we eerst tegen maar viel ons tegen. Country clubs, Resorts voor de rijken dus….. Verder was er niet zo heel veel. We zijn ook maar heel vlug doorgereden. Om 16.00 uur zitten we dan daadwerkelijk in ons motelletje bij Santa Monica, Ocean Park Inn. Een uitstekende plek om naar het strand, Hollywood, Universal Studio’s of LA downtown te gaan. Heerlijk weer ook, niet te koud, niet te warm. Alhoewe…

We met Joe for this part of the trip, and it was a good place to spend time in.  We spent the days shopping, or on the beach, one day, on bikes...We hired 4 tricycle type bikes, adult sized, so our knees weren't behind our ears, managing to get quite a way down the beach. We made it to Venice beach, where baywatch was filmed, and got the full 'avoiding people on roller-skates' experience. Any amount of 'cool' we might have had before we got the bikes was promptly lost on the bikes.
