Constructed in the seventeenth century, this basilica is one of the most famous in Venice and certainly a key feature along the grand canal. You can see it off Saint Mark’s square. The church is rather handsome with its dome from the exterior, and is much bigger than I had expected when I stepped in. Decorated in the baroque style, the decoration is very elaborate and refined indeed. This is Venice of course and no expense was spared with the ornate monument which graces the main altar. The paintings throughout the church are very nice too; although the artists are not that famous, the overall effect is good. Worth going to see if you are this side of the water!
