Frescoes! Apr 29, 2011
Constructed in the twelfth century, the church was most likely built on top of a temple that would have been dedicated to the ancient gods Juno and Vesta. It was built in a Romanesque style and the frescoes inside are from great artists such as Perugino and Pinturicchio. The frescoes are very well preserved and some of the chapels in general are very nicely done. Apart from the frescoes, I thought the rest of the church was worth a quick wander. No photography is allowed inside, unless there would have been pictures attached to this review! Camera ban or not, I think this church is well worth seeing if you are in Spello and want to see some fantastic frescoes.
