All good things must come to an end. As do - thank the heavens - the frustrating/tiring/dramatic ones. After what seemed like 27 schedule changes, the Legion heavyweights decided June 1st would be the last day of shooting. What made this a little odd was that 2nd Unit (the crew that takes care of m…

Today we were leaving Amarillo, and we had a long way to go. We were going to spend the night in Gallup, NM, but planned a stop in Santa Fe to see the Lorreto Chapel, famous for the Miracle Staircase. Distance from Amarillo to Gallup was about 450 miles. We wanted to leave reasonably early, so we c…

As we were ambling about Santa Fe the day before, we came across a narrow street and I exclaimed to Kim that there was a good breakfast joint a block away.  We hiked down and there was Pasquales!  This truly is a hip joint and when I hinted where I would like to consume breakfast over…

Maybe I am a tough critic, but all I ever heard people say was "you gotta check out Santa Fe, it's awesome! There's so much Indian art, jewelry, etc." Obviously, I HAD to see what this city as well as the capital of New Mexico was all about. Although, my advice was accurate about the mass quantitie…

Due to weather, we decided to skip Telluride. Although we could have gotten there, we wouldn't be able to leave tomorrow maybe even the day after. So we decided to go back to Santa Fe, which is south enough that the storm system would not reach it.So after a LONG day, 4.5 hours from Chicago to Gard…

Here's something a little more recent. I spent a good week in New Mexico in June. I love going to Santa Fe and the Taos area in the fall/winter. Usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The cool air, the smell of pinon wood burning and the luminaries the line the adobe structures. Majical. I never had a chance to check it out in the summer. So I did. As much as I enjoyed all the color, I still like the winter feel the best!!!!

I was lucky to come up here for a week-long army course but whenever I was off work, i was out and about town. This city has soo much history and being a lover of architecture I was enthralled to see majority of the buildings in the tradionally stucco 'Santa Fe' type exterior buildings. At night I…
