Santa Fe Mexican Grill Greensboro Reviews
Hot stuff! Mar 20, 2015
Wow, a delightful find. My daughter and I popped in here somewhat randomly because she was hungry for some Mexican food and the Santa Fe Mexican Grill was practically next door to our hotel (my brief exposure to Greensboro suggests the town is quite rich with similar joints). Santa Fe was a classic presentation of vintage Mexican restaurants I have crossed over the years.
The building was huge and the seating spacious. A lot of booths with wooden benches (which I’ve noticed frequently at these places, so I looked, and sure enough, “Santa Fe” was branded into the wood). We were quickly seated and waited upon. Menus were the typical ring bound binder of numerous choices. I selected the Pollo con Chorizo, and it was brilliant.
A bit jaded on the lack of tasty Mexican dishes after living in Texas for several years, Santa Fe did not disappoint. No, it was not as good as Mexican fare we used to enjoy in Corpus Christi, but it was WAY above anything I’ve sampled across the last few years. Not to mention it was served quite quickly and the presentation was excellent (see photo).
The best part was when I asked for some tabasco. Our waiter expressed regrets they had none, but offered several other name brand hot sauces before concluding there was also an in-house option. I jumped at that and another WOW. The waiter returned with two bowls, one red and one green. These were both superb and provided excellent complements to my tasty entrée (caution - the red sauce is really smoking!).
My daughter’s dish was equally yummy (we traded a bite-for-a-bite), and together we give Santa Fe Mexican Grill four thumbs up. They have a sister location at 423 Pisgah Church Road in Greensboro too.
