Santa Barbara Farmers Market Travel Reviews

Lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and many other things Mar 20, 2008
There are just so many samples to try at the Farmers Market: not only fruits and vegetables but many other things like organic cheese, olive oil, fruit juices, honey, dried fruits, all sorts of sprouts, nuts. The list is endless really. The good thing about the market is that the produce comes from local farms and the apples look like real apples not like the wax looking ones I see so often at grocery stores and usually these are flown in from some far away place.

I also like the community atmosphere that the Farmers Market creates with the local produce sellers, musicians, street performers or some activist group that shows either their approval or disapproval of a current issue.

When I went there today at around 4.00, it was packed. So, if you don't like that sort of thing you might want to wait until later on in the day since the market is open until 6.30 during the summer.

keeweeset says: Palapa is a Mexican restaurant on upper State Street and you are likely to find mostly locals in this area. I really enjoyed the shrimp caldo, which had an abundance of shrimp as well as vegetables and it came with chopped onions, cilantro, and lemon that I could add myself. We had the choice betw...
