One of a kind in Bhutan indeed! Dec 04, 2016
The temple and nunnery is located on a ridge overlooking Toebessa –Punakha and Wangduephodrang valleys. The Lhakhang consists of a of a double storied temple, a chorten and a nunnery complex. Inside the temple, one can find a statue of Avalokiteswara about 15 feet high, and the usual fare of Padmasambhava and Gautam Buddha. There's also a photo of the King's parents inside the temple.

As this is an establishment specially built to train female priests, the complex also comes with a learning and meditation centre for nuns; they also learn other skills such as tailoring, painting, etc.

When we visited, we were very impressed with young girls who prayed and shared their offering ("prasad") with us.
