Sandy Lane Hotel Saint James Reviews
Sandy Lane, Barbados Oct 24, 2012
There are a few places in the world, where the word luxury is the most appropriate for every single thing you look at. Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados is definitely not only one of them but also at the very top. Launched in 1961 is one of the world’s best resorts.
It’s quite far from Europe but once you get there you realise that all the effort was so worth it. Flight from London Gatwick took me about 9h. It was already quite cold at home so winter clothes I had on, were a must but luckily for me I didn’t get a chance to be hit by 1000 degrees heat. After a few minutes I was already in the hotel car – silver Rolls Royce. The stuff is very professional. They already know your name as you enter the hotel and welcome you with refreshing fruit cocktail (you can add up some rum into it if you want lol) While being shown around your baggage is taken care of and sent over to your designated room.
The idea is to be relaxed all the time. Of course this is what you do when you’re on a holiday, only Sandy Lane goes one step further. It was the first place when I saw this want-a-drink-on-the-beach-flag-system. You simply stick that flag into the sand and the stuff is taking your orders within a sec. A glass of champagne? Done!
What I absolutely loved was the sound system in the room. Either you use your own iPod or you can play the music out from the TV. It’s all connected and while having a bath you can listen to your music from speakers in the bathroom. You can even control the volume by the controller situated on the wall, right next to the bath-tub. It’s a part of something that I’d call a ‘room management system’.
There are a few controllers all over the room and by pressing certain buttons you can control lights, curtains and volume from one place. What else would you wish for?
Food. Probably because most of the guests were from England and the States, the food was I’d say quite English or American. It’s obviously very well prepared, fresh and delicious but I expected it to be more exotic or local or something that I wouldn’t know. You won’t get surprised by the menu but watch out because you might still bring a few pounds back with you – the food is just simply good.If I played golf I’d be probably in heaven. The hotel offers a few golf courses exclusively to it’s guests. Since I wasn’t I wasn’t interested in that, I had to find something else and I did it at the Spa. They offer a wide range of treatments for both men and women so everyone can find something for themselves.
I flew half of the world and to be honest I didn’t even leave the hotel for a second unless you count the private beach, which islovely btw. But you don’t have to. Sandy Lane offers absolutely everything you can possibly want to find - peace, relax and luxury.
