The banya, similar in some ways to a sauna but so much more, and also known as a public bath, is an institution in russia. russians have used banyas for eons. they are used not only for cleaning, but also for socializing.

banyas are an intricate part of russian culture. to have a true banya experience is to look deeply into the russian soul.the lobby is large and there is a small window with a woman behind for tickets. A young russian boy welcoming and explain to me about the programms and the prices. In the "restaurant" i saw rich russian mens ate caviar and drunk beers...

the style is marble columns, red carpets and golden imperial archways greet you like royalty at the main entrance!

grecian statues and towering roman columns that surround the swimming pools in perfect symmetry.

when i uploaded the stairs for the sauna, i saw and others russians mens about fifty yeras old , to seat down with their towels and have conversation.....

massage hour:the russian guy "beat" me literally. I said him 2-3 times, please more softly, but he continue with the same rythm!

for the next 4 days i had signs in my back..!!!

the tourists are unwanted. Banya are russian ghetto!!!!
