Sandakan Vacation Guide
Sandakan is easily accessible from Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur and is a pretty quiet place on it's own.
There is of course the contemplative Sandakan Memorial Park, which is stood on a Japanese-run POW camp where many Allied troops were sent on the infamous Death Marches.
But on a happier note, Sandakan gives you access to some pretty special memories in the form of Selingan Island (one of the turtle islands) and Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
Do your bit for this cousin of ours and visit the centre :)
