San Francisco Maritime Park Dec 18, 2012
San Francisco Maritime Park on a Hyde Street Pier is located right next to the Fishermens Wharf. I was not looking for it and kind of stumble upon it after Rowing Clubs that I was looking for were closed. On the Hyde Street Pier there are many old boats and the list is: 1886 square-rigger Balclutha, 1895 schooner C. A. Thayer, 1890 steam ferryboat Eureka. 1891 scow schooner Alma, 1907 steam tug Hercules, 1914 paddlewheel tug Eppleton Hall, 1890 (circa) San Francisco Bay Ark, 1915 steam schooner Wapama. A ticket is needed for entrance to the vessels on Hyde Street Pier, but you can walk on the pier freely and look at the boats from outside as much as you like. The cost is $5.00 per person and the ticket is good for seven days for entrance to inside of the boats.¬ Boats are very interesting, not that touristy as wharfs, and I warmly suggest visiting them.

San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park Mar 27, 2010
This is a collection of historic ships parked at Fisherman's Wharf (Hyde Street Pier). From this vantage point, you can see the bay (including the Golden Gate Bridge) and learn about the history of the bay and ships that frequented it.

You can also go on board some of the boats. We visited the Eureka ferryboat and the Balclutha, a cargo ship that has circumvented the world. On both, we were able to learn about the ships and their cargo.

All together, it was interesting to learn about the ships and some of the history of the bay.
