La Jolla is beautiful (to the North). Carlsbad is sort of interesting, (home of Legoland California). Hotel del Coronado is way cool, if you like architecture. Have you seen "Top Gun" the movie with Tom Cruise? The Top Gun fighter base is N of SD and you can drive around it. Marine World (is that the name? with all of the jumping whales). Zoo is outstanding as other fellow said. Gas light district downtown has been fixed up and is nice to walk around, lots of restaurants and foot traffic. University of California at San Diego campus. (Need a car for lots of these).

Ok, this is barely travel related... but it's pretty fun and it might even be something you can do on a trip, especially if you're with a group, even if it's just a few people. During the winter rains wash trash into storm drains, creeks, then river…area. Be prepared for a LOT of trash. It might not look like much, but you generally end up with an enormous amount of material to haul away. Someone should pre-walk the area to estimate how big a container or truck it'll take… Beach Cleanup |

Today we were heading home. You hope when you’re traveling back home by air, there are no memorable stories to tell. And in our case, there aren’t. After we finished packing, we ate, and checked out. Anyone who has watched the Tonight Show on even a semi-regular basis has been exposed to the animals of the San Diego Zoo. For years they would send one person or another bringing some furry or feathered critter to educate the public and do somethin…area, we were pretty disappointed. The cage area for the animals was pretty large. That is great for the bears, so they get plenty of room to play and exercise. It even would have been great for us visitors, except our pair were content… Day Three----The San Diego Zoo |

When you are in San Diego there are two attractions on everyone’s list; The San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld. We went to both last time, in 1987, and would have liked to do both again this year, but we decided it was best to see one of them very well in…area. It was a kind of petting area where about a million kids gathered around the perimeter of a pool, and could try to entice one of the swimming dolphins to come close enough to be touched. Jolene and Jessi both splashed the water, but I don’t think… Day Seven----SeaWorld |

After saying for a few years that I would come visit, I finally made it happen. When flying into San Diego, I thought it was scary that it flew so close to downtown. As it turned out, the airport is close to downtown.I took a bus from the airport to…area, going back to the early 1800's, when California was still part of Mexico. I would be accompanied by a friend, Maria, who gave me a ride to the place. We went to a restaurant there, and the Mexican food was great. I thought… First in Hostel and Park |
