San Cristobal Cusco Reviews
The Church is nothing spesh, but the sweeping views of Cusco are! Dec 01, 2013
Ever heard the old adage "the best part of a destination is actually getting there"? Well, that RINGS TRUE here. If you're staying in the city centre, then treat yourself to a trip up the cobbled roads and alleyways to what is one of the finest walking experiences in Cusco. Go slow, altitude remember! But with the right amount of caution, you're treated to a 20 minute walk in UNESCO's cultural city centre, and then onto a plaza where you see sweeping views of the city centre.
The Church by itself is nothing special. That's not to say it's boring, it's just like any other colourful church in Peru. You pay a nominal fee of about 12 soles and you're in. The Church is broken into several rooms and unlike other towns in peru, I noticed that Cusco churches are very against people taking photos inside.
If you're extra nice, the warden on call will let you walk up to see the main bell. Again, the bell by itself is nothing special but I did love the views of the town once again.
Overall verdict - RECOMMENDED. As I mentioned, it is like any other Church in Peru but the bonus is JUST GETTING THERE.
