San Clemente Vacation Guide
San Clemente, California, USA is a city in southern Orange County. The population is around 66,000. It is situated six miles south of San Juan Capistrano at the southern tip of the county, it lies in between San Diego and Los Angeles.
The area was inhabited by the Juaneño Indians before the Spanish settled there. It remained virtually uninhabited until 1776, when Father Junipero Serra established Mission San Juan Capistrano and encouraged both Indian and Spanish settlers to develop settlements in the area.
San Clemente is considered the surfing capital of the world as well as a premier surfing destination. It is home to most of the surfing print media: Surfing Magazine, The Surfer's Journal and Longboard Magazine

After graduating I promised myself 'The Big Trip'. I had family overseas that I'd never met, so it was a journey of discovery in several ways. I started with a visit to Toronto, Canada, moving next to Southern California, USA, from there to Melbourne, Australia, and on to Adelaide. A quick stop in Canberra, and then on to Sydney. An impromptu long weekend in New Zealand's South Island, followed by a brief return to Sydney and a long flight home. Two and a half months of travel bliss...
