Samsi Manchester Reviews
Samsi May 27, 2011
I know I have a new favourite restaurant about once a month, but I have a new favourite restaurant.
Samsi is a Japanese restaurant in Manchester, on the edge of the city centre. Housed in an old warehouse (as is most of Manchester) above a gym, it has a nice laid back feeling and pleasant decoration.
Now I wouldn't know authentic Japanese if it came up and introduced itself, but that is obviusly the feel that Samsi is aiming for. There is a range of Japanese noodle and rice dishes, and lots of nice sushi and starters, and the flavours are wonderful. Far more unusual tasting than the more familar things that I am used to from Wagamamas, there are lots of slightly sour sweet soups and tamarind-ish noodles. Each dish we had, especially the sashimi, was absolutely perfect. I really enjoyed the meal here.
There is a nice range of deserts too, including Japanese style sweets and western Ice-cream.
Most of the beer is Japanese and there is lots of nice wine on the wine list.
I will definately go back - I'm planning to take my brother in a few weeks.
