This is my new favorite restaurant in NYC, surpassing Agave. The

restaurant is small but cozy, all of the tables are connected like a

kitchen, but the decor still makes this place personal and intimate.

Upon arriving, we were seated at the bar until our reservation was

cleared up. We met the owner, Anthony, who was genuinely interested in

his food and wine; he recommended a Riesling off the menu that hit the

spot in terms of what we all ordered. I ordered a dorade royale (a

fish). Amazing. It came with two sides, so although it was a bit pricy

($25) I was full and satisfied without having to order an appetizer.

Also, the dessert, fried banana, was a hell of a lot more delightful

then its name. The most notable moment of the night: Anthony came to

our table and gave us a complimentary glass of dessert wine from 1912. I kept the bottle as a token and memory of a wonderful meal.

the bottle is a "reserva velha bual madiera, 1912". i looked up the price... its only 200 bucks a bottle, so i'm now not totally blown away
