Szaloncukor for the Christmas tree Dec 11, 2009
Szaloncukor (Salon candy) is for the Hungarians all over the world an essential Christmas decorations, these are a traditional candy from fondant or other sweet mass, covered with fine dark chocolate. This confection is wrapped in colorful paper, which glows, depending on variety, in all colors. On their behalf, they came in the 19th Century, lined up as the middle-class families Budapest their Christmas trees in S (z) alon. The classic fillings include, apart marzipan and chestnut, all sorts of fruit jelly, mint and coconut.

Hungary's best chocolate factories compete each year, 10 million inhabitants, who offers what varieties as well. The largest chocolate factory in Hungary was founded in 1868 by a confectioner named Frigyes Stühmer.

Especially delicious is the caramel wafer named Bonbonetti. An enhanced heavenly delights include Tibi chocolate and cherry chocolates aka "Cherry Queen."
