Not Worth the Time Oct 16, 2008
I didn’t like the Salem Witch Village. (Not to be confused with the Salem Witch Museum, in North Salem) I thought it was over priced, under done, and kitschy, while saying it presented the real story of witches. In fairness the information our guide gave us was probably the real story (I wouldn’t know and don’t really care enough to research it), but the things on the tour were straight out of a Hollywood movie. There was a green goblin-looking thing, a Crypt Keeper-esque skeleton, and a pointy hatted witch flying across a moon. That struck me as hypocritical. The tour was short (maybe fifteen minutes) and our guide, while knowledgeable, was also unenthused. There was nothing memorable in the entire tour.

The gift shop was nice. It was bright, with a lot of witchy things, and the clerk was friendly. Maybe we would have enjoyed it more if she had conducted the tour! Needless to say, I wouldn’t do it again.
