Salathai Resort Hotel Phuket - Reviews - Phuket

If you are tired of the luxury type of hotel like Marriott or Hilton, then Salathai is definitely the one you should go for. We use to stay in Patong Beach Hotel in Phuket, is expensive and luxury but this time we like to try something different – something that is cheap, cozy and yet not too cheesy.

Salathai has a very good location. Surrounded by restaurants, hotels and it is only a 2 minutes walk to the beach. We walked to the mall, to the beach, to restaurants and the most happening road by night – the Bangla Road. When we are too tired of walking, a tuk tuk (local open-air taxi) is very easy to get and is very cheap. They are everyway, never worry if you ever get lost, a tuk tuk will bring you back to your hotel.

We were pleased that the staffs speak good English – they understood what we wanted and we have no problems at all. They even remembered our room number. We walked to the beach and decided to leave the room key at the reception. Upon arrival the hotel, the staff already has our key in hand!

The buffet breakfast is good. Not some cheesy continental breakfast…A mixture of Asian and Western dishes that suits everyone. I love the Asian food while Charlie loves the Western food; therefore we were very happy at breakfast.

All the rooms have pool view that surrounded by trees and orchid plants. The swimming pool is big and it looks clean. We didn’t use the pool because we would rather jump into the sea! We stayed at the deluxe room on the ground floor before we leave for Phi Phi Island. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the deluxe room again when we return from the island. The superior room is located on the 1st floor which is not bad at all. The only difference is deluxe room has a bath tub while superior only shower. What is worth mentioning is they have the most powerful shower head in the world! (Ok, maybe not in the world but at least we have never enjoyed a shower like that) We even cancelled one night in Phi Phi because we wanted to come back to Salathai so bad! We didn’t enjoy Phi Phi so much therefore we decided to cancel one night. If it is not because of Salathai was fully booked, we would have cancelled 2 nights! (I will write a detail review on our Phi Phi trip.) Charlie took a little longer time in the shower every day! The shower is powerful yet gentle on our body…

The resort is so well designed. The restaurant is at the front part of the hotel so you can watch people passing by when you enjoying your meal. The reception and the tour desk is behind the restaurant. There are 2 computers available for their guests as a business center. They offer free internet service which came as a surprise to us! Most of the luxury hotels we stayed, we will have to pay for a ridiculous price for internet. After the reception, you are totally in a different world! You will see a big swimming pool, surrounded by tress and plants. It totally shields you from the noise and the hectic traffic from the road. Is so peaceful…….

Overall, the resort is clean and comfortable. Definitely a great place to relax.
