Sala is best known for its silver mine which was in operation until 1908 and dates back to medieval times. It is now a big tourist attraction and there is a function room and bedroom 150 metres below ground.
There are a lot of shops in close proximity to the mine that sell hand made silver jewellery. All though, the silver used no longer comes from the mine in question.
