Sakurajima Bus Tour for the non-Japanese Oct 05, 2010
Sakurajima is best seen by hiking and biking. However, when pressed for time, this may not be plausible.
There are no English tours available in Sakurajima but there is an alternative.
The Sakurajima Bus Tour is a 2hr bus tour around the Mt Sakurajima.
Departing from Sakurajima Port Terminal twice daily, it is a good alternative to those who would like to go around the island but has limited time and money. The downside? No English-speaking guide. The alternative? An English-translated book guide that explain what you are seeing, and the guide also points out the corresponding # on the book when she talks. They also have it in Korean and Chinese.
Outside, on the ground level of the ferry terminal, there is a ticket booth where you can purchase the tour ticket and the coach bus pick-up stop. The tour ticket comes with other discount coupons as well.
Cost: 1700yen adults/850yen child
