A little digging around revealed that the hotel could easily do this, and a brief telephone conversation with the staff at the Petro Palace Hotel proved this to be merely a formality and something which they had attended to by email within a couple of hours. We arrive at our hotel which is ok, but its kinda dodgy, the parkings lots if full of cars with doors and windows missing. The hotel has a bowling alley in it and bars. At the hotel, rules in Russia, is you have to surrendor your passport to the front… On Route Finland to - Russia,to St. Petersburg, on May 2006

  We checked into the hotel and had some time to walk around some before our guide was meeting us.   We were immediately blown away by the beauty and grandeur of the city.   We made a quick stop at the ATM to get cash.  We were surprised… St. Petersburg, Russia.........Russian Wonderland

…Some of which are the utter milking of you at any chance since they think you are loaded since you are staying at a $500 a night hotel. Likewise, when we crashed the bar we were swarmed with hotel provided prostitutes. There is a whole racket here with full madam on site, hotel kickbacks, etc. It is just expected of a nice Russian hotel that they provide this service. …we een klein beetje rondgewandeld voordat we de metro weer terug namen en naar een restaurant gingen in dezelfde straat als ons hotel. Ik heb een “inheemse” maaltijd geprobeerd maar was daar niet zo enthousiast over. Verder is he t eten weer een stuk duurder dan in de Baltische landen maar nog steeds goed betaalbaar. Na het eten zijn we meteen maar weer naar het hotel gegaan… Aankomst in St. Petersburg // Arrival in St. Petersburg
