Fun for All Ages Jan 04, 2010
I didn't know what to expect at the City Museum, but it was nothing even close to what I thought it might be. It turns out, the majority of the displays are kid-oriented, even though adults can participate, too. They are interactive displays that actually make the place seem like more of a funhouse than a museum. There are some interesting displays, such as the doorknobs, but nothing like what 'museum' implies. But, adults that are kids at heart can have fun, too -- I played a life-size game of Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em as well as (trying to) maneuver a giant hamster-like wheel (I was not so successful -- I fell twice, which is actually a warning if you so choose to run in this thing).

The City Museum is an interesting place. We visited during the break between Christmas and New Year's so the place was over-run with families and young kids. But, for a $12 admission, you can play all day. There is also a rooftop display, but for the season, it is closed and there is also an optional aquarium to visit, but we did not do this, either.

I stopped here, too, in September. I think it is overrun with kids on any day, so I agree with the misleading "museum" term. It certainly is creative though. I didn't have time to go through it and I'm good with that decision.

great fun Jun 29, 2009
my TB and i are both early 30's. no kids with us so we figured how fun could it be. seemed like an interesting enough place so thought we'd check it out anyway. disappointed at first because i was wondered where was the school bus thats suppose to be on the roof. 80 cent for the meter and then noticed my gps had taken us to the back door.

$12 per for entry. opted out of the aquarium add on.

the city museum is difficult to describe. best i can come up with is to compare it to a 3 story maze. oh but its a maze that you have to do on your hands and knees. lol (dont wear shorts) there are lots of dead ends and blank doors. i cant count how many times i said (and heard others say), where does this go? or whats down this way? this place is hours of fun for kids and young at heart adults.

visit the city museum in the morning and balance it with a leisure afternoon spent at forest park. it made for a good day for us.
