Saint Francis Hotel Santa Fe Reviews
An Historic Hotel in Santa Fe Jan 18, 2010
The Hotel St. Francis has a prime location in Santa Fe's old town, just a couple of blocks from the plaza. Two of Santa Fe's most famous restaurants, Coyote Cafe and Cafe Pasqual's, are practically next door. Most of the main tourist sights are nearby and an easy walk.
This hotel is the only Santa Fe hotel listed in the National Register of Historic Places, as the hotel structures date from 1888 and 1923. The hotel's architecture beautifully blends in with the adobe structures of central Santa Fe.
Room sizes vary and the hotel has recently been remodeled. Rooms are simply furnished, to match Santa Fe's rustic southwestern charm. All rooms have a TV, coffee making facilities, heating/AC and a safety deposit box. My heater worked really well.
Wireless internet access, along with a lobby computer, is available for guests. Bathrooms are small, but spotlessly clean.
The front porch is a great place to sit back and relax, while candles lit in the lobby at night give a homey feel.
The hotel includes a restaurant, Tabla de los Santos, and a bar, Secreto. Thursdays through Saturdays, afternoon tea (and sherry!) is available in the lobby.
Reception staff are friendly and helpful. I stayed during the off season and as there were few guests, I was given a larger room at no additional charge.
Staying near the plaza can be expensive. For a central, convenient location in the off season, I found Hotel St. Francis to be competitive, with rates of roughly $100 nightly. I would recommend this hotel to visitors as long as they are visiting during off times. During peak season, hotels near the plaza double or triple their rates, making hotels in the area unaffordable.
