Saigon Quy Nhon Hotel Qui Nhon Reviews
Spacious and affordable rooms Jul 15, 2013
The Saigon Quy Nhon hotel is a first class hotel on the beach promenade of Quy Nhon. Beware that Quy Nhon is not a very touristic city and apart from the beach and the promenade there is not that much to see and do. Unless you get up very early to see the locals swim, play badminton or practice tai-chi.
It's a large hotel with a large lobby featuring a small souvenir shop, the reception and the restaurant. There's security agent by the main door and a lift boy is operating the elevators. The lift boy speaks good English!
Our room is located on the third floor. Coming out of the lift, the floor has very wide corridors with wall to wall carpet. Though when leaving the elevator, the corridor smells very damp and moldy... as if the floor would have been empty for quite some time.
Room 306 is a very large corner room. It's large enough to be a suite. There are two queen size beds with a soft mattress and cotton silk bedding. That sleeps wonderful! It's the best bed I slept in in Vietnam so far, as Vietnamese beds tend to be very hard. But this one was just perfect!
There's a bar area with the minibar and the complimentary bottles of water. Then there is a desk with TV and a sitting area with two chairs, a table and a kettle with coffee and tea. In the wardrobe there's the safe and the indispensable bathrobes and slippers.
The individually controlled airco is working just fine and the WiFi signal has excellent strength. What more can we wish for?
The bathroom looks clean at first sight, but when you look closer, the walls near the bath are black with mold. The bathtub with shower has a good enough shower head though and I cannot complain about the water pressure. This shower head is even adjustable, which makes it easier to shower without getting my hair wet.
There a plenty of toiletries as well as a hair dryer. Apart from towels, washcloths are provided here too.
We ate both dinner and breakfast at the main restaurant. Dinner was a buffet with dishes adapted to the more western taste. There was soup, fried rice, noodles, battered fish and crispy chicken. A chef was preparing fries and spring rolls and there was fruit, cookies and apfelstrudel for dessert; a delicious meal.
Also in the morning the selection was very rich. There even is real cheese (and not those wrapped slices). The home made yogurt and soy milk were very tasty too.
There's a spa and a swimming pool which I didn't check out. On the eight floor there's a rooftop bar with a lovely view over the sea. They do cocktails for very reasonable prices, but they are very strong... They're not stingy with alcohol!
The Saigon Quy Nhon is a very decent hotel. It's a good stop on the way from Hoi An to Na Thrang, but sadly there's not much to do and see in Quy Nhon except for the beach.
