Sai Khao Inn Koh Chang Reviews
A gem of a find in Whitesands Beach - central to everything! Dec 18, 2011
This is right in the heart of Whitesands Beach which is supposed to be the most touristy resort on Koh Chang but once walking up to Sai Khao Inn, you instantly feel away from it. The lady here is so welcoming too, even offered us some rice that they were all eating.
The other downside is that there is no restaurant here but for the array of restaurants that is found in the main street, there really isn't the need. There are plenty of little benches to sit at and enjoy the evening. Just be careful of the mosquitoes.
You walk up a little hill and you have a variety of rooms, cliff top wooden bungalows, private stone bungalows and then there is the guesthouse.
We stayed in the guesthouse for 500 baht a night and the room is really cosy. You get your own fridge and TV and dressing table. The beds are comfy and almost a home like feel with a soft duvet and big bouncy pillows. The only downside is that with it being a stone room the warmth tends to stay in the room so it gets a bit sauna like but with a fan over the bed it is bareable at night. We do have a little area to sit out but this is shared with others (4 rooms and 2 tables) so just hope for quiet neighbours. We heard bodily functions from the room next door!
The bathroom is shared and it's round the corner from where the guesthouse is. There are 3 toilets which are kept clean and 2 showers, one hot (or very warm water) and one cold. Then you have 2 sinks with mirrors round the corner from the showers/toilets.
When you walk back to the roadside you are in the centre of everything. The beach is over the road, you have a mini mart literally as you reach the roadside. There are restaurants galore in this strip and the best one is 2 doors down - will get a name for a review but you have the best half a chicken with chips and salad for 150 baht!! They have the best array of sea food on the island too!
Oh and for dessert you can stop at the pancake stall outside the V Mart (right next door) and have one of THE best pancakes. Chocolate and milk is my personal favourite. :)
I have included the website address for the guest house but it's half Thai and half English but it does give pictures of the accommodation along with prices etc.
