Las Vegas; Sahara Hotel & Casino May 27, 2012
The Sahara Hotel is the perfect spot for any Vegas traveler who is not planning to spend much time in the hotel. In general, most people do not really spend much time in the hotel that they book, and simply use it for the bedding, and perhaps for food or the pool. The Sahara is perfectly fine to do those things at, but if you are planning to go around Vegas and sightsee, or enjoy the nightlife, save the money you could spend at a 5 star hotel and just book here. The rooms were spacious and clean, and I had zero complaints.

As far as location, it's at the very end of the strip. The neighboring hotel/casino is Circus Circus. The Sahara is one that does not have much in the way of attraction, as it does not really have a theme, persay, but Circus Circus has a mini-theme park inside. It's basically across the street. I will mention that for those who are terrified of heights (like myself), the Sahara connects to the metro thing (it connects the majority of the casinos) through a highway overpass in the air. So...if you are irrationally scared of heights, prepare yourself!

Nice pool May 02, 2011
The Sahara is one of the last "old Vegas" hotels on the Strip, and that was one of the things that attracted me. The casino area is small, but the slots paid pretty well. I went down to cash a travelers check one afternoon and noticed an area I hadn't seen before. Walked in, put a five in a nickle machine, played four or five spins...and quit, because I took $18 out of the machine. So while it's not the flashiest casino, it's worth playing.

The rooms were fine, we didnt spend much time in ours, we were out and about most of the time...we did have a dinner in that mexican restaurant that's in sahara, and it was quite pricey, but all the food in vegas is pricey...i liked the food there i just didnt like the setting..it seemed like i was in an old mexican kitchen or something....

The pool was amazing, we really enjoyed our time there, and the look from our room was priceless. It was my first time in vegas so everything seemed amazing to me...

I only hated the fact that you have to walk really far to get to the actual Strip,...but other than that, overall it was a great stay.

Sahara Hotel Las Vegas, the grand old lady is dying.. Apr 11, 2010
The Sahara had always a special place in my heart. It is one of the oldest surviving casino's on The Strip. Despite that fact it had captured that old atmosphere and could be called a Grand Old Lady. Besides that it offered a great buffet.

Unfortunately not anymore...... They closed the buffet earlier this year. The building and rooms we were lodged in were clearly deteriorating. Not (yet) in an unaceptable degree but now the buffet is gone I do not have a reason to stay here anymore. I am afraid the Grand Old Lady is dying...

Sahara offers free parking, is accessible with the (rather pricy) monorail, has a swimming pool, still has a nice casino and is close to Casino's that still offer buffets. Note: they charge you for free local calls, even if you do not call!

Decent accomodation in Las Vegas Aug 29, 2009
It's located at the northern part of The Strip so it's a bit isolated. You can always hop on The Deuce, a bus which runs along The Strip frequently.

We were given a smoking room despite the reservation being made 3 months before our arrival, where we were confirmed a non-smoking room.

It's definitely an older hotel and its customers are more casual. Go to other casinos for shows for sure. :)

But if you don't care much about the lack of ambiance and just want a place to sleep then this is a decent place to crash.
