Sagada Homestay Reviews
Good one. Mar 23, 2013
Sagada Homestay takes commanding position over beautiful valley and little town of Segada. Only negative thing about it is that you’ll have to climb up the hill every time you come back home… But aside of that, friendly people, ok breakfast, great location, and my favorite fireplace is definitely reason to go there and stay for a while. Price for a bed is 300pp in double bed room, but single bed should not be that more expensive. They have couple buildings where they fit guests, and I was in the main house where family lives. Only thing included in price is bed, hot shower and WiFi, but they also provide food in the small restaurant and they will wash your clothes for small fee. Main building is cozy place with bottom floor occupied with large family and guest rooms are on the second floor. Most of the walls are covered with wood, heavy wooden furniture covers the middle of the common rooms and large carved figures will scare you in the dark of the night.
Room is pretty basic with two normal size beds and no much space to go around. Bathrooms are on the same floor and they are clean and nice. Nights are a bit cold here so take shower before night falls if you don’t want to freeze (or maybe I am the only one that hates cold). Rooms have enough blankets and it is ok to sleep without being cold. There is small terrace going around the building, perfect for early morning view with the coffee in your hands.
Best thing about Segada is its nature and happy people. They do have means of living good and you can see that by the looks of the buildings in the area, which are made with good materials and with style. I assume that there are many wealthy Philippines that built their weekend homes in the area because there are few really nicely made buildings without people living in them. In all valleys that surround the town agriculture is the main thing to do and whole hills are covered with stunning rice and other produce terraces. Area is also covered with beautiful evergreen forest and nice rock formations are all over the place. I am in love with cave systems and beauty of underground rivers in this area. You can easily spend couple of days exploring this caverns (not that easy, and actually a bit dangerous).
