sagada, a shangri la in the troubled mountains Feb 20, 2009
Considering that the philippines is an archipelago made up of 7,100 islands, it is impossible to think that there is a mountain range as almost half the size and high as the alps in europe is located here.
it is called the cordillera mountains, since centuries, this mountain range is subject to restless war and fighting, the ancient tribes, the spaniards, the japanese, the americans till the recent government, it seemed so endless.
but deep in the mountains lie a shangri la, which is called sagada.
perhaps this is my most visited place in my journey year, i could not count how many times i had been here.
the very essence that sagada is almost hard to reach, to get there, i must cross deep valleys, bumpy rides, gorges, ravines and cloud forests.
it is a place where i changed my outlook on how to see things in a different perspective, i was young and full of life but here i was reborn and changed, the simplicity of life and just becoming one with nature.
