Place to stay for one night. Only. Mar 15, 2008
No mozzie net, which freaked me out cause i had already had malaria once, and didnt want it again.
Very hot, but thats dar for you, not the inn. You need to walk down a really freaky street to get to it (I was a female traveling alone). The room was clean and all, the bathroom was decent. Nice and cheap internet cafe downstairs (limited opening hours)
Decent breaky included in the price, made up for the noise the nigth before.
I ahve to admit the most annoying part was that my fan made a clicking noise ALL night.
If you need to go somewhere the next day organise for your taxi driver to come and pick you up! Reception spoke great english, and although not friendly, were very helpful!

A buddy and I were on vacation in Tanzania, and looking in our lonely planet we decided to stay at the Jambo Inn. Sadly when we arrived 3 hours later then the bus company said we would Jambo Inn was fully booked. Nearby is the Safari Inn though. They had rooms available. The cost was about 20 USD for a double room. They have both resident and non-resident rates, my friend and I are residents of Kenya, so it didn't fly here in Tanzania. The fans are in the room so he don't get to hot, screens over the windows so no skeeter (mosquito) problems. Shower and toilet in the rooms, hot water advertized but never bothered to check the humidity is so high, that it was nice just to take a cold shower. Breakfeast is included in the price, but it is just 2 pieces of toast, some watered/iced down juice of a unkown flavor, and your choice of tea or coffee. The guys at the front desk didn't seem to know anything, but most of the questions we asked were about the Ferry to Zanzibar. In the end if you need a place just to crash and everywhere else is booked head there, otherwise I would suggest the Jambo Inn where the people seemed more helpful and knowledgeble(?). Also paying in USD is cheaper then paying the non-resident rates in Tsh

…Jambo, passing on the way the restaurant I was looking for making note of its location, and at last minute decided to check out Safari Inn nearby.  Now LP has been far from right (the cockroach inn was described as clean), but this time around they were right on the money.  Safari was described as the best in this area, and it is. You'd think I was in a luxury… Is a street sign too much to ask?

We told the driver to take us to the next chepaest one in the Lonely Planet called Safari Inn for $16 USD.  Gilbert is directing him in Kswahili and translating for me.  When he asked the guy how much more he wanted to take us there, he said that they would negotiate when they got there.  That part did not make… A Vacation From the Vacation
