'Sade Sasak Village' Dec 03, 2008
Sasak is a native of the island of Lombok. And one village that is prefering to continue old traditions of is a located in Central Lombok called Sade Rambitan of District Pujut,West Nusa Tenggara. Villagers choose to ignore the outside world and modernize.
The majority of male Sade Sasak’s work as farmers, while women are weaving Ikat style making beautiful items, usually the results of the weaving are sold around there houses or sold the art store with prices that vary according to the size and complexity of manufacture.
Sade Village has become the mainstay of tourism and cultural traditions of the island of Lombok. Therefore, villagers are empowered and encouraged to keep local government to always maintain the authenticity of the building and the traditional arts and crafts as well as care for their heritage. And there crafts that are sold to tourists are expected to support them.
The houses in Sade village are built in a line, the most prominent and distinctive in Lombok is a granary built on wooden piles with four hat-shaped roofs made of reeds or bulrushes. Beruga or ceremonial hall stood on the six pillars and the roof is made of elephant grass, providing a cool atmosphere when the weather is hot and warm on a cold night. Their ancestral home is divided into 3 parts, namely a kitchen, bedroom and living room.
Although the Sasak culture is influenced by Bali and Java, but the Lombok mixed cultures is unique and different and it is interesting to observe.
It is hard to find the location of this village because of its position right on the edge of the Praya highway, there is only one small signboard on the highway outside of the village, that visitors must see which reads ‘Dusun Sade’
