Sa Dragonera is an uninhabited small rocky island 800 metres offshore. It is 4,2 kilometeres long. Maximum width is 900 metres. It is the sixth largest island of the Balearic Islands. The island can be reached by boat from the village of St. Elm which is located directly across the "Canal des Freu". In the past Sa Dragonera was a hiding place for corsairs. Today it is a preserve area (seabirds, lizards) with an attached ranger station - and a destination for hikers.
The shuttle boat transfer ("Crucero Margarita") from St. Elm to Cala Lladó, the natural harbour of Sa Dragonera, takes just 15 minutes. There are several hiking trails on the island. The most popular one leads to the old lighthouse Na Popi (Far Vell) which is located on top of the highest peak (360 metres) of the island. If you are not interested in hiking up hill and down dale wandering to the "Cap des Llebeig" at the southwest corner of the island may be an agreeable alternative.

The boat transfer to Cala Lladó, the natural harbour of Sa Dragonera, took just some minutes. We took the path to the old lighthouse Na Popi (Far Vell) which is located on top of the highest elevation (360 metres) of the island. The sight from the top is breathtaking. See my review (below) about Sa Dragonera for an extensive report.
