SXSW 2008 - March 7-16, 2008 - Austin, Texas
SXSW is an annual influx of people from EVERYWHERE, all to see music and movies and to drink and party for an entire week. It's an exhausting event to say the least. 100s of bands are playing in bars, coffee shops, small venues, large venues, street tents, and churches (seriously) throughout the week and with a wristband or badge you can get into see almost any of them. Wristbands run approx. $150 (USD) and badges are a ridiculous $300+ (depending on which badge you purchase) but this means no cover charge at any venue! There's also a film festival that runs during the beginning of the week that has several movie theaters and large venues around town screening independent (and some major) films entered from anywhere in the world. Both events are fantastic and if you have a lot of stamina, I highly recommend attending a SXSW festival at some point. See www.sxsw.com for this years lineup!
