Where Asia meets the old Europa and vice versa! Jan 08, 2010
First I have to thank a great chef,Marco de Wildt, wearing outstanding sideburns for the 2 kg of more overweight that I got in 4 days!

The Silkroad restaurant of the hotel Mowenpick offers a cuisine inspired by the Silk Road voyage of discovery from Marco Polo.It is a mix of Asian flavours and fine European ingredients and vice versa prepared in the open live cooking kitchen.

Because of the weather, our inertia and laziness,we had all of our dinners there even the NYE' buffet style.

On the first dinner,my wife had a delicious sole meunière(in fact 2 big ),fried soles served with a lemon glazed carrots, spinach and potato mash.I enjoyed a US beef bavette steak with a great cooking,i.e according to me UNDERRARE with roasted tomatoes, grilled Portobello mushrooms,Pont Neuf potatoes and mustard gravy.

After a late NYE decent buffet at 730pm!!we enjoyed the third evening an Iberico pork Char Siu,Cantonese style roast pork served with Bok choi rice cakes,a delight and a grilled Albacore tuna served with Turkish vegetables and bulgur, jus of fish soup, garlic and lemon.

We drank some wines, all decent in particular a Chianti Riserva DOCG.Renzo Masi.Fattoria Di Basciano 2004.

As our breakfast ended around 1100 am,we never had lunch!

Very professional service
