Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Rwenzori Mountains National Park Kabarole Reviews
Africa's Most Beautiful Alpine Region Dec 29, 2010
In 1997, I went to Kabale district for the very first time with a party of 5 traveler who were on their way to climb the Rwenzori mountains. As the title of the park suggests, there is mountain within. The third highest peak in Africa - Margharita lies within the Rwenzori National Park. The park covers the districts of Kabarole, Kabale and Bundibujo. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994.
This review is not particularly about mountain climbing, but rather about the park in general and the many attractions within. Mountain Climbing of course is one of the top activities (check out my review on climbing Rwenzori Mountains).
The unusually beautiful flora and fauna of the park, and it's varied species of birds are some of the things that make it unique. The different primates and species of butterflies add greatly to it's beauty. Naturally it is a cold region because of it's altitude above sea level. Dressing warm is recommended especially while in the mountainous regions.
PS: why leave for tomorrow what you can accomplish today?
