meet locals in Irish pubs Apr 28, 2009
With only a couple of Days in Ireland on our European trip, we really wanted to get as much out of the visit as possible. After asking our taxi driver from the airport what he could recommend to do, he told us to do the hop on hop off bus tour, which we did and was great (takes you everywhere you need to see)
On this bus I got speaking to another couple from the States who had been on the rural pub tour. After listening to the stories about where they had gone and all the fun they had we decided to investigate rural pub tours. Our hotel didn't know much about it but I check the internet and found out all about it, at first it seemed a little expensive but it included dinner and 2 drinks, music ect.
The tour lasted just over 9 hours and we got to see lots of the beautiful Irish countryside plus have a couple of drinks in some really dainty Irish country pubs.We even got to do an Irish jig.
Our Tour guide James was great fun, full of stories and jokes very friendly guy.
If you visiting Dublin check out the rural pub tour, you wont be disappointed.

Fun Day Tour of Country Pubs outside Dublin Nov 17, 2008
I was visiting my girlfriend in Dublin for the weekend, she is always arranging things for me to do & see while I'm over there.

This time I made it very clear that as it would be my last visit to Dublin for some time I would like to do something I wanted to do for a change.

Well after that comment I was nearly not going anywhere.
So as usual we met in the city centre in Dublin, I had just arrived & my girlfriend had just finished collage for the weekend.

We were having a coffee in Temple Bar, Yes I said "coffee" when the people at the table next to me left, i noticed a couple of different Flyers of Day trip on their table. So I jumped over & picked them up, it was the usual stuff hop on hop off bus,day trip to castles ect.
However the one that got my attention was "Rural Pub Tours" this sounded great.

What was involved was taking a tour which visited Country Pubs out side of Dublin. The bus left Dublin at around 3pm and we had our first stop at a bar called "The Blue Light" we all had a Guinness(which was included in the tour price) the views of Dublin City from this pub were amazing.
The next stop was only 5 minutes at "Johnnie Fox's Pub" now this pub is a real gem, we spent more than an hour here and if you were to read all the different things on the wall you'd need a week or 2.
After a spectacular drive through some scary roads we arrived at "Rounwood" where we found ourselves at the real highest pub in Ireland.
The next venue was to be for our Dinner(also included in the tour price)
once again the drive to this pub which was used as an old hunting lodge over 200 years ago was also breathtaking. The dinner was delicious and enough on the plate to feed an army.
Not far down the road after dinner we made our fifth stop to what can only be described as a time warp.this pub was a real old topical Irish Pub.
we visited 2 more pubs before returning to Dublin one in a town called Avoca which featured in a famous T.V. series and the last stop was a fine big bar set in a little village and by the time we had arrived all the locals were there dancing and singing. We enjoyed our day and

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR TO ANYONE VISITING DUBLIN

I like Irish people. Every time we've walked around the past few days, people would randomly say hello or start a conversation or offer help beyond what we asked for. I also love that so many of the old men wear tweed caps. There was a lot of Gui…… Dooblin
