Ruidoso is a great vacation spot located in historic Lincoln County, New Mexico. The village has just more than 9,000 people and the biggest industry is tourism. In the winter snow skiing is the major attraction. In the summer visitors flock to Ruidoso Downs to watch the horses run. The Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino is open year round.

The four seasons weather in Ruidoso makes it a favorite for people looking for a second home or cabin. The Mescalero Indians and Billy the Kid both called Lincoln County home and surely both enjoyed the cool breezes of the Southern New Mexican Moutains.

Any skiing trip I go on is very worthwhile granted I can get the time off from work. This was my first time taking a trip to Ruidoso and skiing their resort, Ski Apache. Ski Apache is a medium size mountain that boasts the only ski resort with gondolas (which were shut down at the time we went). It has plenty of runs for the beginner/intermediate skiier. It does offer some challenging black diamonds though. This is a beautiful place in both the winter and summer. We spent 2 days there.
