Welcome to the original home of Roy Yamaguchi's renowned Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine! Roy's is a fantastic place for a nice, but casual dinner with friends, or a great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. And that's just what we did on this occasion. My partner and I were celebrating our 6th year together during our 2nd trip to Hawaii and invited the other 5 friends we were vacationing with to dinner to celebrate with us. I've dined at the Roy's in Atlanta, GA several times and knew what to expect when I got there. This location is on the island of Oahu nearest Honolulu. You'll need a car to get here as it's in the 'suburbs' - about half way to Hanauma Bay. The atmosphere can be kind of noisy (they want it that way - so don't complain). I would plan on spending about $50 per person if you go. Roy's is a rather exquisite place to eat, so please don't show up in your shorts and flip flops! You're likely to be turned away. Besides, it ruins the dining experience for everyone else in the restaurant. I had made a reservation with Diva Schroeder, the General manager, a few months before our visit via e-mail. When we arrived, she was already expecting our party of seven and seated is in a really nice corner table that had great views of the water across the street. Diva is a very energetic individual that obviously loves to have a good time, so be sure to joke around with her a bit! The food is absolutely fantastic - probably the freshest fish you'll find anywhere, even on the mainland. Everything I've ever had here has been excellent. I highly recommend the Roy's Canoe Appetizer, the Macadami Nut Encrusted Mahi Mahi, and of course - Roy's Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle! Mmmm. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. But there are so many other great items on the menu I could just go on and on about it. I only have the pics included with this review and on the blog. But be sure to visit the official Roy's website for further details, great photographs of the cuisine, and for locations. If you're not visiting Hawaii soon, check to see if there's one near you!
