Royale Eatery Cape Town Reviews
Good Burgers Oct 18, 2010
Royale Eatery I found recommended in my Lonely Planet guide for South Africa. i was looking for somewhere to eat and seen as I was staying on Long St it made sense.
It is a restaurant that sells burgers. Loads of burgers. The menu is full of different kinds from you bog standard plain to fancy gourmet ones. It's unpretentious, in fact you could be sitting in someones rather large kitchen. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are warm and friendly and willing to offer suggestions and opinions on the menu that doesn't steer you to the most expensive items.
The food it good. If you like burgers this is the place for you. The burgers are tender and juicy. All burgers served with
your choice of potato wedges, sweet potato fries, normal chips or salad. They also do a twilight special between 4-6pm where burgers are R30 and beers R10. So it's pretty cheap if you time it right.
Also upstairs to the side of the restaurant is a bar called the waiting room. It got it name because people used to wait there to get a seat in the restaurant below. However it's been expanded into a pretty cool bar. It's also got a rooftop terrace the offers great views over long st. The music is like downtempo, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, breaks and soul depending on what night you hit it. The have a club night on Sat night.
