River Front Hotel at Chao Phraya, Bangkok Dec 28, 2013
The Royal River Hotel, Bangkok
I have recently stayed in The Royal River Hotel, Bangkok. Over the years I have stayed mostly around Sukhumvit and Silom but this was my opportunity to explore something new. This hotel is right next to the famous Chao Phraya River. Very conveniently located to access all the river side attractions from the pier right next to the hotel. All types of boat including Orange, yellow or the tourist boat stops there.
Hotel rooms are specious, our room was facing east towards the river with a wide open balcony. I enjoyed spending time sitting there and watching the Chao Phraya river activities. There are great views from the balcony from where you can see the Bangkok skyline in the distance specially in a clear night.
Rooms were clean large enough and bathroom was specious as well. The beds were comfortable . The room was equipped with all the luxuries - like television, air-conditioning, mini bar, Hair dryer, Iron, safe etc. and the bathroom was loaded with everything you may need including needle, thread and spare buttons in case you loose some of those for some reason.
The early morning sun pretty intense from the east would wake you up no matter how hard you try to cover these large windows with curtains. Hotel staff was more or less friendly and helpful.
There are pretty large common areas at the hotel ground floor with a open access to the river front. The out door hotel restaurant was right next to the river specially at night it’s one of the best place to spend your evening with a glass of wine.
During my stay there I always used the boat from the hotel to Central Pier and from there took the BTS to Sukhumvit. If you spend 150 Bath then you get one day river pass to able unlimited ride. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for something different than Sukhumvit lifestyle and want to enjoy old Bangkok.
