Royal Retreat Gurgaon Reviews
Boring hotel, good for one night Jul 25, 2011
We arrived around midnight in India by airplane. After getting through customs and getting our backpacks, our driver was waiting for us at the airport. He drove us to Gurgaon, a satellite city of Delhi. We drove over quite empty highways, the only thing we saw were a lot of homeless people sleeping under viaducts and archways. Then we drove over a dark road without any streetlights. We really thought, wow is this India? Hope we got picked up by a good guy! Haha! Then he drove into a gate which leaded to a protected neighbourhood. Soon the hotel was there. We checked in and got the key to the room. We were tired of flying, so went straight to bed.
I have to say the hotel was really good, although we did not stay for long, because the next morning we already were picked up again to start our India trip.
As said, the location was not the greatest. It was in some kind of protected area where a lot of rich people live I think. Surrounded by walls. It's an excellent hotel if you continue straight from the airport away from Delhi. Just for the first overnight.
Everything was clean, the room and the bathroom. The beds were really good. And we were happy we had an airconditioning. Because when you opened the doors to the balcony, the humid, hot air came straight into your face. Even in the middle of the night.
The next morning we had breakfast, which was included. The breakfast was pretty good. But as always in a new culture, you have to get used to the local food. So some things were really spicy. And I don't mind spicy, but in the morning on an empty stomach, I prefer not.
So I would recommend you this hotel when you are planning to continue the next morning into the direction of Rajasthan.
