looking for a cozy apartment in bangkok? Sep 19, 2010
with my backpack and some maps and tourist brochures on my hand, i arrived in this hotel almost half asleep. after three hours (or four, i actually dont remember) since it took off in manila the plane touched down in bangkok an hour past midnight, while i was scourging all my left energy from a hiking activity earlier before my flight schedule.

Although i already had a reservation, there was no airport transfer services offered so i have no choice but to take the cab. (i could say, cab drivers in bangkok are extremely friendly)

at the reception area:

the hotel lobby is not extravagant but very cozy and chic. instead of a counter for the receptionist, two office tables with chairs in front were installed. well, basically the same you see in your boss' office which gave me a feeling like im in a job interview. im just glad it did not take long... im afraid i'l fail if i did, lol

the crew, bellboys, guards:

very professional. friendly. neat. honest. kind. although most of them are not very fluent in english, you know that they are trying their best to understand what you mean. two thumbs up for all of them!

the room:

i stayed in a junior deluxe suite (thanks to the 50% off) housed at the annex building,. everything in the suite room is awesome. nice pad! it suited me perfectly that i plan to recreate its interior and design in my own apartment. it seems that the ambiance is at the border line of being modern and classic.

the living room is just right. three comfy couches matched the fluffy throw pillows and curtains. a LCD tv with a dvd player makes it a "usable" living room. adjacent it is a cozy kitchenette equipped with all the dinnerware and appliances you need, including a dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave, a coffee maker, oven toaster, and a washing machine with dryer (yes, a washing machine!)

the bathroom is huge. very clean and very cozy as well.

the room is perfect. very balanced lighting... filtered lamp shades... just the way i like it... a gigantic (co'z im alone) king size bed with very comfortable warm sheets and feather pillows that compensate to the very cold centralized air conditioner... the well lighted dresser and a study table made made it very homey... everything is very nice. ah, the room is also equipped with a LCD tv. (too bad i accidentally erased the photos of the room and of the bathroom)

the food:

nothing is really so fancy with their buffet menu... so-so. dining experience is average.

location:

near the skytrain. 5mins walk. near street shops and street food area.

problems/dislikes:

the building where my room is housed is located at the next block across the street. so you really need to do some extra efforts in going to the lobby or to the restaurant. well, a two minute walk will not ruin your day, anyway. (tuk-tuk's are available from 6am-10pm for free transfers)

internet is not free! and quite expensive! 150 baht for and hour.

since my room is located across the street, i have no choice but to always have an encounter with "persistent" and sometimes "annoying" cab drivers offering tours and travel packages.

no airport transfer services.

note: if ever you're planning to visit bangkok,. i recommend that you stay in this hotel (only if the discount rate is still in effect). from the price i paid, it was really worth it.

In returning back to Bangkok we have booked an apartment hotel Royal President located by the Sukumvit, Soi 15. Sukumvit road is a tourist hub of Bangkok and hotel is in vicinity of places like metro station, sky train, business complexes, restaurant and bars area. The Room is very clean, comfortable and spacious with all the amenities. As this is apartment hotel and we have small modern all equiped kitchen, sittings for guests, large bathroom. The service and hospiltality is fine and they are more professional in this business. The clean and cool pool side, multi cuisine restaurant, fitness centre is another facilities here. It worth much compare to our paying.
