It's really hard to rate that place... it seems there is a different rating for each floor...

booking through the internet can always be tricky but at the end of the day all I need is a clean bed and bathroom. I'm staying in a hotel, not buying a flat...

Park Royal has strong points:

location- Manhattan, walking few minutes distance to the tube (96th)

service- guys at the reception desk are most polite and helpful as possible and beyond that as well

other services- they are working together with a transport to the airport cab company, so you can sort that out with them, without worrying and you will be pick up at any time of a day or night

cleaning services- seem to be at work 24/7, not intrusive and everything is as clean as possible

weak points...

on-line booking not tells you about differences in what you get in return for what you're paying. seems that as higher floor as standard lower... I've started at 8th floor, finished at ground; started with 2 bathrooms for the whole floor, end up with en-suite bathroom, nearly size of my first room

heating- again depends on a floor. on 8th in a double room wasn't enough of air to breath so I woke up with a huge headache. radiator cannot be regulated. the airconditioning not letting anybody to fall asleep unless you don't mind sounds of a taking off plane.

so I've been moved to the lower floor, where room was still without the bathroom but at least not overheated

but, as I said, depends what one expects.

in my case if I'd like to share room, bathroom with others I would stay in a hostel but didn't want to this time.

there are no space to rest apart of your room or a sofa just by the entrance to the building which seem to be very popular with young people :)

If you'd like to eat or drink sth you have to go out as there is no catering service, neither the kettle in the room. there are few small shops around but I'll rather recommend to get sth to eat on your way to upper Manhattan rather than trying to hunt sth there :)
