Overpriced toursit hotel Jun 24, 2008
The hotel itself is pretty massive and the lobby looks fairly nice. I knew however, as soon as they gave me an actual key and not a card that I couldn't possibly be staying at anything good. The room itself was not bad, had a small television in it., no real extra space for hanging out other than the 3 beds that were there. The bathroom was a mess, it was flooded like crazy. Given it was nice and clean, but FLOODED. As I was stepping out for an hour shortly after checking in, I mentioned it to the front desk, and the gentleman said he'd take care of it. I returned a little over an hour later and nothing had changed. Since I was only staying there one night, I didn't bother asking again, but I will definitely try and not stay there again if I can avoid it. ONE key per room, even though THREE people are staying there... The location is okay, its 2 blocks from the Russel Square station and there are some really good eats around there!

This place is not bad if you are young and on a budget. There is a pub in the hotel which is a great place to meet other travelers from all over the world. The room sizes aren't bad for Europe (private bathrooms which is important). I was there in the fall and we had the windows open so I had trouble sleeping because of the noise (take some ambien!!). The location is great! You are a two minute walk from the tube, internet cafe (1 pound for 20 minutes I think), convenience store, bus stops and more. I always felt safe too!

Meh. Not memorable. You could do better for cheaper. Some units' bathrooms have been renovated so bonus points for that. Contiki tours leave from here so it's noisy at nite from people gathering in the courtyard and drinking their heads off.

The flight to London ended up being uneventful, which is a good thing. Once through customs, I made my way to Russell Square on the tube. From that station, I made my way on foot to my hotel, The Imperial. By the time I checked in and showered, it w…hotel, The Imperial. While waiting for my connecting flight in KL I met a lovely girl Stacey (an New Zealander moving to London), we exchanged details and planned to catch up during my trip.
I was so delighted to see Kylie waiting for me at the airport when I arri…hotel (Royal National Hotel) in Russell Square, we arrived to find just how close the hotel was to the bombings. I arrived in London around 8:30 a.m. Baggage arrived without a problem, which I was obviously very happy about. Customs wasn't much of a problem, except the kid I met at the airport and I both decided to go to the same customs stand.&nbs…hotel rooms. At the Royal national, you don't get to choose your hotel roommates unless you request someone when you book your trip. Very early start this morning. We were at the airport before daylight, and we wasted some time on the free internet they had, ate some potato jems from Hungry Jacks and waited for our flight. We went through to our gate and noticed it wa…Royal National Hotel, Russell Square, as this is where our contiki tour was begininning.
The train was packed, and we didn't make it to Russell Square until after 6pm. We walked to the Royal National, put our bags in storage and headed to the contiki… Singapore to London - The LONG flight! |

We were up at 7am and we were supposed to be on the bus by 7.30am. We somehow managed to make it on time and said goodbye to a few people who were staying on in Paris. Our goal was to leave as early as possible so we could catch the earl…Royal National Hotel.
