Royal Kona Resort Kailua Kona Reviews
Best Views in Oceanfront Dec 25, 2010
Stayed for 4 days in a package including car-rental.
Hotel charges $10 day for parking. Parking is spacious and ample. Location of hotel is excellent. Oceanfront, walking distance to Kailua-Kona Village.
Rooms were big. we had reserved a ocean view, but when arrived we received a corner ocean-front with a huge wrap-around balcony with no obstruction of the ocean.
The room itself could be updated soon, but it had all the necessities and they worked, plus a mini-fridge and safe deposit. All windows had shutters with gave it a very tropical look. Good hotel choice to relax in the morning drinking coffee in the balcony or sipping a drink or local fruit... totally took advantage of having a mini-fridge and double sink.
The service staff was awesome quickly responsive to any needs like beach towels for their pool and lagoon.
The hotel has other amenities like bar, restaurant, cleaners, spa.. we didn't use those so can't comment.. but they are there.

This is a huge resort that consists of three separate buildings. The main building has a nice design that looks like a cruise ship. The garden around the hotel is nicely landscaped and it is fascinating to see how the huge waves crash on the shoreline right in front of the hotel.
The rooms are nice and clean and equipped with a bar like facility and a small refrigerator as well. The balcony is spacious and offers nice views.
The hotel has all kind of extras like a restaurant, bar, gift shop, tour office and even a wedding room. It is also located within walking distance of the old center of Kailua Kona.
Most disappointing is that such a hotel fails to offer a complimentary parking and charges USD10 per night for a regular parking lot. One can even park for free in Kailua Kona....
Anyway, if you are based on the west coast of Big Island, this is a nice hotel for both staying around as well as for touring outside the village.
