An excellent place to stay Feb 11, 2017
After doing some research on the internet i decided to stay at the Royal Flower Guest House (details below at their website), and it turned out to be a good decision. The guest house was situated in a quiet street near the Shan Market and only 10-15 minutes walk to the town center. I booked several months in advance using Agoda or similar site. We arrived at 10 am and immediately the owners greeted us and one of their workers, an old Indian fellow gave us a map and spent several minutes pointing out all the attractions, restaurants and onward travel information. He then showed us to our rooms, carrying our bags. the room was nice with clean bathroom, hot water, toiletries, satellite TV, air conditioner. On the roof there were a few chairs to relax on at night or watch the sunrise in the morning. Breakfast was served from 7.30 -9.30 am and it was quite sufficient-----coffee or tea, juice, fruit, toast, butter and jam, eggs or omelet. The owners turned out to be Indian with the original family members remaining here after fighting for the British during the WWII. They were very friendly people and when i asked if i could watch the English football he managed to change the normal channels that were showing on our TVs in the room. The family were genuinely happy to talk to us and several times we sat in the courtyard and had good conversations. they arranged the share taxi to pick us up for the return trip to Mandalay a few days la
