Oldest and best Chinese restaurant in Dallas Apr 26, 2011
So you know ahead of reading this, I have been friends of the owner's family since the 1960's! After their family immigrated to the USA, and settled in Dallas in 1977, they opened this Chinese restaurant. It has been in the same location ever since. Objectively, you can read about the awards they have won over the years on their web site. The restaurant was remodeled in 1998 and looks stylish and new. You can look into the kitchen, watch the chef make the hand-pulled noodles (always entertaining and amazing). We were there for lunch, and although we were not hungry and did not order full meals, the samples of the dumplings in many variety and flavors were super, and innovative too with 4 colors and 4 different stuffing, I have never had these kinds anywhere else. The skins of the dumplings were green (spinach), orange (carrot), white and red (I forgot what!) and the stuffing was vegetable, shrimp, chicken and pork correspondingly. You got to try them! We had these pan fried. The steamed dumplings (shaped round, not long), and fried onion cake were also delicious. So if you are hungry for some great Chinese food in Dallas, go to Royal China, and tell them you heard it from their friend they knew back in Taiwan!
