Royal Agadir Reviews
There is nothing royal about the Royal Hotel May 29, 2011
The name is very misleading. There is no royalty about Hotel Royal at all. The joke is that this is the Berber Fawlty Towers. I did not find it a joke, this was real. We saw them all, Basil, Sybil and Manuel.
The second you enter the reception you don´t feel welcome. The receptionist was not very friendly nor helpful. When we came back from dinner and asked for our keys, the guy did not speak a word of English and pretended not to understand a simple thing as a key. Even when I said that there was no toilet paper in the toilet in the reception, the woman made a face, before she bothered to fetch a new roll of paper. You always felt that you bothered them.
The pool and the communal area looks nice, but don´t be fooled! This hotel is really run down. A typical place, which cater to charter tourism. My room was medium sized with two comfortable single beds. There was a TV in the room, but not much else. The bedding was damp and the sheets did not cover the mattress completely. The whole room smelled of humidity. The interior looked very worn down. The door to my room would not close. Unless you looked it, it would stay wide open. In the morning I opened it to get some fresh air, and suddenly a cat was in my room.
The bathroom was decorated with white tiles and had a tub. It was smelly and really needed an upgrade too. There were cigarette burns everywhere and the tub was absolutely disgusting. The shelf between the tub and the washbasin was extremely dirty. Towels where damp, old and torn. I had no toilet paper holder. The paper was placed on a shelf too fare to reach from the toilet! The bathroom window could not be closed, neither could the bathroom door.
Insulation was non-existing. I could hear everything the neighbor said. The building with the bar and restaurant was right behind my room, so I was very much bothered by the noise from the pool bar. If the noise from the bar will not keep you awake, the nightclub next door certainly will. There was also a construction site next door, which is not exactly noiseless either.
Breakfast was included, but nothing great, only white bread, jam and butter.
I would definitely not recommend Royal Hotel. There are so many other hotels in Agadir, so why stay there! Simply just avoid it!!!!
