Rovinj is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 13,562 (2007). It is located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. There is a sizeable community of Italians and the town is officially bilingual (Croatian and Italian). Moreover, Istriot, an ancient romance language once widely spoken in this part of Istria, is still spoken by part of the residents. There is a centre of History Research which is an institution of the Council of Europe.

Pula, Croatia -› Rovinj, Croatia -› ...
I lost my mind & couldn't be happier! Plan was 6 days-17 countries; ended up 15 countries. Auto trek began in Pula, Croatia Sat. Sept 22, just after Ireland TravBuddy Get-Together. 1st day: Croatia, Italy, Slovenia (overnight in Ljubljana) 2nd: Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland (overnight in Krakow) 3rd: Ukraine, Romania (overnight in Transylvania) 4th: Bulgaria, Macedonia (overnight in Skopje) 5th: Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia (overnight in Split) 6th: Back to Pula

We have spent the last 6 days travelling north through Croatia.
First stop was Sibenik and the Krka National Park, the highlight being the awesome waterfalls and swimming amongst them.
Onto Opatja after a 8 hour coastal bus trip... we stayed for 3 nights in a Sobe (room) in a lady´s house with a great room overlooking the town and sea. We were even brought coffee and hot kako every morning on a tray with bisciuts, now thats service :) We did a day trip to Krk Islan...

I was looking forward to visiting Rovinj. We had only 1 hour and 15 minutes to see this place. We didn’t run all the way up to the church, but we were walking very fast on this lovely path. From Rovinj we took the boat to Porĕc. It was getting hot. Wearing black clothes wasn’t a good idea. Our lunch was served on the boat: hamburger, salad, slice of bread and white wine.
