Rothenburg has to be the most exciting medieval town in Europe. One of the few fully walled cities left this amazing village is filled with shops that you will find no place else. Make sure that you don’t miss the Christmas shop, even if you go in spring or summer. Also, you will find shops with the most beautiful and delicate lacey porcelain and crystal. And do try the Schneeball, a baseball sized ball of strips of dough quickly deep fried and then covered with a choice of sweet powdered sugar or other glaze or frosting. They are a real treat. Touristy for sure. Of course there are plenty of over-priced souvenirs.

I still get e-mail updates from the Kathe Walfart (the Christmas store)there. It was worth a visit. I didn't get to try the Schneeball though. I guess I will just have to visit again!
